Kari Grayson – Instructor: My wife and I met Kari for a private lesson and it was amazing. We had little to no experience, but Kari was patient and easy to follow. Her instructions were the best, and she made us feel safe and comfortable. Safety was stressed (which as it should be) and all the basic aspects covered. We truly appreciated her willingness to take the extra time we required and in providing constructive feedback on our progress. If you have interest in learning the basics or more advance aspects, she is definitely the go to person. Highly recommended!

I attended a hand gun class this past Saturday at Buck and Does called Real World Proficiency, and the instructor was Jeremy Mancos. I would highly recommend this class along with Jeremy! We learned how to shoot at multiple targets, moving targets and everything in between. After just a couple of hours, I can say that I’m now better prepared, in case I find myself needing to defend myself. Thanks again.

Fantastic experience at Buck & Doe’s. Can’t say enough good things about the service we received while there! Ron was so helpful and did an absolutely amazing job with a firearms class for my daughter! She enjoyed it so much, she was sad to see her class end. We will definitely be back!

One of my new favorite places. Very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. I’ve dealt with archery on multiple occasions. Nick, Melissa and Bradley (I hope I got all the names right) all went above and beyond to insure I had a great experience. The girl at the register is friendly and sweet. I highly recommend doing business with Buck and Doe’s. Small local businesses are the way to go and they’re a testament to that.

This place deserves 5 stars because of Don. Don is an amazing instructor. I signed up for a private lesson and Don was patient, informative, knowledgeable and provided excellent training. I highly highly highly recommend him. He also took his time and didn’t rush the lesson which I appreciated. Sometimes instructors only give you an hour and don’t explain important facts. I will say trying to schedule the private lesson was a nightmare, I had to call several times and I had a specific instructor in mind at first but in the end I just said can you book me a private lesson at 10:30 and then I showed up. That seemed to be most efficient and work out best. I will def. go back and take the HCL course here. I am very happy that I chose Buck & Doe’s and that Don is a great employee!

This place is a home away from home. I always have a positive experience every time I come through here. The folks that work and run this shop are top notch! Shout out to Bobby, Kelle, and Don, for their expertise and customer service. I also asked if they carried 30-06 specific for M1 Garands, which they didn’t at the time. Low and behold a few days later there it was on the shelf! Plus their events are a blast. The wife and I just came out for their Date night. Highly recommend!

Nice and clean. Range is a little short (15 yds) but perfectly adequate for most. Electronic target adjustment was nice. Fully stocked gun store with accessories. -1 star because everything was way overpriced but not being from there I don’t know what their competitive environment is. Did not get to see the archery side.

While packing my rifle for a trip to Africa I noticed that the safety was inoperable. I took it to Buck and Does just days before leaving. The outstanding performance of manager Roman and the gunsmith repaired my rifle and returned it to me in record time allowing me to take it with me. Their customer service is outstanding!

Came here with my girlfriend in Nov. 2024. It was a great experience, easy, reasonably priced and beginner friendly. I have a handful of past range trips, but it was my girlfriend’s first time shooting. Kali showed us around, walked us through the basics and went above and beyond throughout our time at Buck & Does. Appreciate you Kali, thank you for the kindness you showed us.

My husband and I highly recommend Buc and Does due to their great customer service, guidance, and expertise of the staff members. In particular, I would love to give a shout out to Bob Williams, who helped mentor my husband and myself while practicing at the shooting range, as well as answering all of our questions regarding our latest fire arm purchase from here. It’s clear to me that the owner, Rex, and his team, truly care about their customers and overall experience. For my Christmas present my boyfriend bought me my first firearm. We were visiting San Antonio at the time and came to Buck and Doe’s. Being the firearm aficionado that he is he immediately put a red dot (purchased elsewhere) on it however it caused the gun to jam. So we went back the next day to test out loosening the optic and try it without. Worked perfectly. Mike was helping us every step of the way. Great man! Very patient considering this is my first firearm. The entire staff was fantastic!! Very knowledgeable and informative. Not only about my firearm but anything we wanted to look at. Definitely look forward to coming back and chatting with Mike for many years to come!!

Really excellent experience. Went for LTC hands on test. Ron was the instructor. Very friendly and helpful. After the test we told eachother war stories for a little while. Enjoyed that a lot. It was like talking to an old friend. Did some shopping and everyone behind the counter was exceptionally friendly and helpful with lots of information and advice on products. Same experience with the girls at checkout. No doubt I will be back soon.

This by far is the BEST gun store and outdoor place I have ever visited. The staff was so friendly and knowledgeable. I met the owners who were the most kindest, down to earth folks you could ever meet. All the employees were happy and great energy levels through out the store. Gun prices were right on along with ammo. Nothing but great things to say about this store and they have earned a customer for life. Thank you Buck and Does Mercantile for running such a great establishment!!!!!

My son and I took a private gun lesson with Jeremy this weekend. He helped us fine tune our grip, stance and trigger pull just to name a few. Jeremy was professional yet personable. He is knowledgeable and easy to understand. Jeremy explained why we were hitting the target away from the intended spot then gave us easy instructions on what to do to correct the problem. Just a few minor adjustments made such a huge difference with our shooting in a short amount of time. The best take away point from our lesson with Jeremy was that you can’t correct what you don’t know. That is so true. Take a private lesson with Jeremy and see how quickly you will improve by understanding how you shoot and what you can do to be even better.

Buck & Doe’s is a very nice place that can certainly scratch your latest firearms related itch. The folks there are super friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and very patient with folks new to the wide world of boom-sticks. I have only visited them a few times over the past couple of years simply because I live on the exact opposite end of the San Antonio universe. However, every interaction I’ve experienced there has been nothing short of friendly and informative. These folks genuinely care about what’s in the customer’s best interests. My next investment will have to be a larger safe to accommodate my rapidly growing collection, but I guarantee that I’ll be doing more business with Buck & Doe’s in the future.

Been a member for about 6 month. I mainly utilize the archery range, which is very clean and well maintained. The gun range is very clean and well maintained as well. Staff is amazing…very friendly and always willing to help anyway they can . The store front is clean and well stocked.

We are visiting from canada, someone referred us to Buck & Doe’s Mercantile, the store was neat and clean. The staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable, Ron our instructor made this an incredible experience for us, his attention to detail, his knowledge of the firearms and safety were outstanding. My son (10 year old) and I just had a wonderful total experience, and excellent private instruction with Ron Benton. I am so thankful for Ron’s thoughtful and caring demeanor. Signed up for a beginner archery class after plucking a few strings at a renaissance fair. Mr. Attila was a great instructor…I found recurve shooting fascinating. Went back same week to make my first ever bow purchase, unfortunately a bow to meet my needs wasn’t on the shelf. Luckily Mr. Attila found what I needed and called me back in same day to pick up what I needed to get started! The customer service here was incredible, from signing up for a class in person to purchasing and setting up a recurve. It really solidified that I wouldn’t need to shop anywhere else for my future archery needs! In addition, I’m looking forward to signing up for private instruction in the near future.

Attended a date night event at Buck & Does and had a great time! The package came with time at both their archery and gun range, and afterwards they provided a range of cocktails and food for all participants. Brianna, the event organizer, was especially helpful when we had questions about signing up and made the experience really enjoyable. Will be back for sure, thank you Brianna for a new, fun outing that my husband and I can enjoy together!

Just moved to town and only visited Buck & Doe’s for the the first time yesterday but thrilled to be 20 minutes away from a great indoor range, gun store, archery shop, and even knives and cigars all under one roof! Makes me feel like the beloved Toys R Us from my youth has returned in a new grownup-centric form!

This was my first time at Buck and Does even though I pass by it quite frequently. I was impressed by their Facebook page so thought I’d check it out. It was even better than expected. A sweet gal Helene greeted me as I entered and asked what I needed. She helped me find everything (magazines and ammo) I was looking for and recommended some others I was still thinking about. Great prices too!! I will be back to shoot on the range and most likely purchase a membership. Call me impressed!!

This is the place to go for all your firearm needs. Friendly and knowledgeable staff that always answers all of your questions. Buck and Does has consistently earned our business and will do for years to come. Ron gave my wife and I a great lesson by teaching us solid safety and accuracy fundamentals. We came in today for my daughter to practice archery. My cousin got to shoot a bow for the first time. Wow! So impressed with the facility and staff! Will and Attila are incredibly knowledgeable archers and if I lived closer I would take lessons from them. Great prices as well. Can’t wait to come back!

I took the competition pistol class with Jeremy and I highly recommend this class for anyone thinking of getting into competition or even if you already compete, Jeremy was friendly, knowledgeable and safe. He provided me with one on one instruction on everything from holding the pistol correctly and drawing faster to footwork and quicker follow up shots. I can honestly say I was shooting twice as good by the end of the class. Now I need to practice the homework he gave me and win some competitions! I will probably join the shooting league they have a Buck & Does to get some additional practice in. Thanks for making it fun and informative!

Took my 15yr old for private instruction as a 1st time shooter with pistols (9mm Sig and .45 S/W. Ret Army Ranger, Ron Benton was his instructor. Without a doubt one of the best times we have ever had! Ron went over safety, sight alignment, stances, trigger squeeze, malfunctions and clearing. We had multiple drills, low light firing and moving targets. All with constructive feedback on how to improve with each iteration. Could not ask for a better 1st day. We will be back and my son and I have something fun to do together. The prices were very reasonable. Thank you to Ron and Buck and Doe’s for a great outing!

Let me start by saying that this place is very organized and clean. Have one of the most friendly, knowledgeable and professional staff. Every staff member carry a firearm for safety purposes (not to show off) which that give me peace of mind and they’re well trained in case of any situation occurred. I mostly go to the Bow Range and there’s two amazing staff members (Can’t recall their names) that have so much knowledge and experience in hunting different types of games and will recommend the right accessories.

Ron was our instructor today at the LTC CLASS. Ron and his twin brother Don are extremely knowledgeable and professional and a lot of fun too! I highly recommend them and this class and Buck and Does! Thanks Ron for being an incredible instructor! Where do we buy the trunk money?

By far the best indoor range I have been too. The staff are extremely helpful, friendly, and conduct a wide variety of courses / shooting leagues! Great selection of firearms, clothing, and other veteran owned companies goods ( BRCC, War Fighter Tobacco). Follow on Facebook for the most up to date info on upcoming events!

My daughter had a lesson with Ron last week. We had been to the range before for practice, but having a lesson with Ron far surpassed our expectations. He was engaged, patient, and made the entire hour super fun for her, challenging her in creative ways we never thought of. Worth every penny!

Got a membership here recently and have been going a few times a week since then. The employees are very nice and welcoming to people all of experience levels. They have a great inventory and are fair on prices. Range is clean, well ventilated, and everything is well maintained. As far as safety they do a great job of keeping an eye on all of the lanes at all times, but also give you room to breathe unlike some places. Highly recommend them and will continue to train here as long as i’m in town!

Our group of 5 had a blast at Buck & Doe’s. Our instructor, Paul, was informative and in good humor duing our lesson prior to our first shooting experience. I highly recommend the group format. I just completed the Texas Conceal Carry class with Ron Benton. It was a very well-presented class that covered the important information we needed to be aware off. Ron did a great job and kept us all alert with his jokes. He answered all our questions without hesitation so that we clearly understood the laws covering the use of deadly force. Highly recommend this class to anyone interested in getting their TCC license.

B&D’s is a fun-filled experience every time! Great selection of reallynreally guns, knives, accessories, as well as gift items and clothing. I’ve purchased great quality knives and guns there, and the experts here are more than happy and patient to explain everything you need to know. Very friendly, accommodating, and as thorough as you need. Their prices are very competitive and their service shines! They have a nice indoor gun range and they have License To Carry classes taught by terrific people!

Me and my friends are from Belgium and had never shot before in our lives. Ron explained everything really well, he showed us how to safely handle and shoot a gun. It was a pleasure talking with him about guns & other stuff. I would definitely recommend B&Ds to everyone I know. And if possible, I’d come back myself some day to hopefully shoot with Ron again!

This was our first visit to you all business so, We took our son on a private lesson with Ron , wow he was awesome very informative on safety . That was my concern for my son first ever shooting a AR15, shot several rounds we where amazed on Ron’s teaching skill since he’s an veteran Army Ranger 👏. I have never shot before and wanted to learn how to use the gun my husband purchased for me. I set up a private lesson to learn as much as I could about my gun. Ron did my lesson and he was absolutely wonderful. He was so patient and helped me to properly hold, load, unload, and shoot under many circumstances. I felt so comfortable and learned so much. If you have never shot before and want to learn, this is the place you want to go ladies! Thank you Ron for making me feel comfortable in case of an emergency.

I’ll first say that I have a previous relationship with Will, Rob and Corey. My loyalty to them is the only reason I would drive from almost in Castroville to B&D’s…even though I love the place. Will has worked on my bow and also built arrows for me a couple of times. He’s always great to work with. However, I went in last Saturday with a bit of an emergency and none of my guys were there. Instead, I worked with Jonathan. Jonathan listened to my needs, spent time getting my bow fixed and set back up the way I asked him to. He was professional, kind and efficient. Just another great bow technician at B&D’s trying to get me to keep making the long drive with great customer service and attention! I guess they all deserve a raise! But seriously, when your team goes above and beyond to give the highest level of customer service, and to build relationships with customers, that’s the key to continued success. If you have a great product, but treat your customers poorly, you’ll loose 10 out of 10 times! Treat them right, and you win, even if you occasionally drop the ball! Great Job Archery Section and B&D’s!

I have had two issues recently with firearms, one belongs to a friend and he came to me for help. They were super straight forward about what they could and could not do, they even helped brainstorm other shops that might be better equipped to remedy my issue at hand. Stand up folks, need more of that in this country.

To celebrate our first wedding anniversary we decided to go to the range. This was practically our first time shooting/handling a gun and Mike made our experience great! He helped us check in and pick the guns to rent and provided safety and reloading demo. He is kind, and very knowledgeable and patient when we were picking his brain with questions. We were able to rent the guns they had, buy the ammo, and get different targets! Definitely will be back!

Very nice indoor shooting facility. Limited to 15 yards, but this is plenty good for an indoor range. Friendly staff. Good hours of operation. I brought a new shooter to the range on my first visit and it was an excellent experience. The only thing that I am disappointed about is that steel cased ammo isn’t allowed. I really wish that I could shoot Kalashnikovs at their range, but I am not going to buy brass ammo just to shoot indoors. B&D is generous by not having a time limit on their range. Great place to shoot.

Buck & Doe’s is a great place to get merchandise and classes. Don Benton the firearms instructor is very knowledgeable and an excellent instructor. Don gave me a class to get my (LTC) license to carry and did a phenomenal job. He is patient and very hands on in his training. As a female I felt extremely comfortable to ask questions and have him give me tips on how to improve. I highly recommend Don Benton for all firearms classes.

We had our son’s 10th birthday party here and have nothing but wonderful things to say about the facility and the staff. They were so welcoming and provided everything we needed to have a great time! The bow instructor kept the boys entertained and safe. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

I love this place. If you’re there to pick up new gear or just looking for some modern outdoor fashion, along with several of the other oddities you’ll find it right there in the merchantil. If archery happens to be one of your things they have a great selection of new Bows and all the required necessities as well the range behind the wall. Moving on over you’ll find your perfect fit in a pistol, long gun, or shotgun. Always have the ammo you need for your buys and even have a range the test out or just go in to have your Fun. The staff is always friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Buck & Does is a 10 out of 10… 5 ⭐ hands down.

Ron Benton was the instructor for my LTC course, and he was fantastic. Had an awesome experience completing my certification. Every single person I interacted with here was great. They treat you right and all have a great attitude. Unlike some other ranges, you feel like these guys and gals actually want to be there!

Buck & Doe’s have the best instructors ever! My husband and I were licensed in another state, but needed to take the LTC class for our new Texas license. We took the LTC class in early March 2021. At first I thought 6hrs in a class would be boring and hard to stay interested. Nothing could be further from the truth with twin brothers, Ron & Don as instructors. After going through some basics, we completed the proficiency portion. This allowed us to relax and focus on the other important information needed to meet the Texas LTC requirements. Ron & Don kept the class entertaining, yet informative. We never noticed how long we had left or what time it was during the entire class. Happily, we passed and within a few weeks, received our LTC. I would definitely recommend these 2 fine gentlemen as instructors for your LTC or to learn how to safely and legally use a firearm. We have become members and love it! The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They’ve been helpful with recommendations for purchases and general information. Membership has its privileges, with discounts on classes and shopping. They have a great selection of merchandise and there’s always something new and interesting. So far, we’ve never had to wait to get on the range, which is awesome. We highly recommend Buck & Doe’s for classes, shopping and range time.

He did a great job making me comfortable and at the same time, he made sure I knew everything I needed to know about being safe and prepared when carrying my firearm. He did a great job. My fiancé and I celebrated our 9 year anniversary by taking the beginner recurve class. Attila was our instructor and he did an amazing job. Instructions were clear and concise. Attila was able to explain the techniques in a way that made them easy to understand and he would watch our form for any adjustments that needed to be made. We are definitely addicted to shooting the bow and are already planning our second visit! Thanks Attila!

I had the awesome instructor Don who really helped me get over my fear of guns through the beginners course. The understanding and knowledge of holding a gun and loading it properly as well as practicing safety precautions truly helped me understand gun safety. Amazing instructor and an impressionable experience! Thank you!

Great place and even better people! B&D’s has fair prices, helpful staff, and solid selection! I purchased a family membership and am enjoying it immensely. I also took the Real World Proficiency class. Jeremy and Ron made it extremely informative, personalized and fun! I would highly recommend it to any shooter. It gave me new skills, as well as a lot to think about and work on with my technique. I plan to continue my firearms education with more B&D’s classes, in the near future.

I am so happy I found Buck and Doe’s. After a dog attack in my neighborhood, I decided it was time to get my license to carry. The process was so smooth. I took the online class through Buck and Doe’s and then signed up for the proficiency test at their facility. Being a new gun owner with little experience and up in age, I was a little nervous and intimidated to take the test. The instructor Ron Benton was so encouraging, kind, informative and made the test a pleasant experience.

Great atmosphere and knowledgeable staff. So much to pick from such as lots of weaponry, accessories, to even clothing and home furnishings. Anyone should feel welcome here. Today I put one of my rifles on consignment and we agreed on a price I’m happy with. Hopefully it sells soon, and I will definitely be a repeat customer. Bradley I believe was the guy who helped me. Great experience.

My husband and I spent a fair amount of time with Ron learning and getting comfortable with just handling a gun. I think we asked a million questions and he was patient, easy to talk to, very informative and unhurried. He gave me many pointers on how to aim and to avoid the stove pipe scenario that was happening frequently. Thanks so much, Ron!

I called these guys to look into some classes so I can raise my proficiency with my weapon. Ron was my instructor and he was amazing. He kept it light and fun but also kept it on point and to the topic. I was able to pick up what he was putting down and quite easily at that. For just $99, Ron made me much more confident in my ability to hit what I’m aiming at and ONLY what I’m aiming at. As a bonus, he even gave me some good “what ifs” to consider. If you go to him for the private instruction you can expect to get more than your money is worth. The range is the cleanest and most advanced I’ve been to. By the end of the day, I’d shot at multiple ranges and even multiple moving targets, which I didn’t even realize was possible. If you’re serious about being a responsible gun owner and a good ambassador for the 2nd amendment, I highly recommend going up there to talk to him because he will teach you the skills you need to defend your family safely should the worst case scenario ever come to your door. My favorite quote from Ron today, “don’t be a Richard Cranium!” I’ll be coming back soon for my LTC, you can bet on that. Total pro.

Very friendly staff, never rush, always take time to answer questions. The place is very clean and well stocked. Wrote my original review more than a year back. Have been a member for a little longer than that. Have enjoyed every visit to buck and does. Staff still very friendly, and I mean each and every one of them. The place is still maintained very well. It gives really good old school Texas vibes. Events that they organize are fun to attend and the instructions in their classes are fantastic. Worth being a member and part of the buck and doe’s community !

My son and I visited Buck & Does 0n July 30th and had a fantastic time. The exterior of the facility was clean and inviting. with plenty of parking. Upon entering we were greeted and directed to the proper desk for range access. The employee who inspected our firearms and ammo was extremely friendly and professional, He explained the rules of the range and directed us to the lane we would be using. Seeing we had brought in more firearms than we could easily lug to the range he provided us a rolling cart, helped load and escorted us to the lanes. The indoor range is second to none.It was in showroom condition.Usually when we go to other ranges the brass is everywhere presenting a trip / slip hazard but not here. The range condition was very clean and well managed for safety. The shooters `bench / stations we very clean as well no old shot up targets or debri to deal with. The shooter has control of the lighting and target distance in each lane. I did not see any damaged equipment of lane that could not be used . Restrooms were also well maintained. We had a great afternoon at Buck & Does .We appreciated being greeted and serviced by friendly professional employees who truly understand customer service. If you have young ones and want a safe family oriented range to train on I would highly recommend Buck & Does.

Amazing experience. I was with the Wounded Warrior Project a few weeks ago. I’m not a hunter, or a gun owner, so I didn’t really care about coming. I was with a group of vets, so i tagged along. Very professional, no politics bs, and extremely nice and non judgemental. The entire crew was extremely knowledgeable and I had a surprisingly good time shooting bows. I love the merchandise they offer and took him a few gifts, along with a free sticker! I highly recommend this place and next time I’m in town, I’ll swing by!!

The staff, is very friendly and helpful. The storefront and indoor range is very nice. The only downside is they don’t give military discounts and the range time is on the hour. ( it’s an hourly time ). Overall good experience, less than 5 minute drive from my house.

I love coming here! for the range and have also taken several classes. The firearms instructors are very proficient and knowledgeable at what they do and I’ve always felt safe in the classes. I’ve also bought several guns here – the employees in the firearms department are always very friendly, helpful, and are patient when I ask a million questions. Highly recommend!

This was our first time here with my family at the Gun Range and Ron really went above and beyond to teach us about Gun safety and operation. My 9 year old was pretty scared in the beginning but by the end she was very comfortable using the gun safely in the range. I would go back just so the kids can learn more from Ron. Great experience!

I took the beginner’s course on 08/04/2023. The instructor, Ron, was very informative, funny, and direct. He let us get comfortable with a 22 handgun in the classroom before taking us to the range. We could only shoot ten rounds, which I felt was not enough to get comfortable shooting on my own. The staff are helpful, the indoor range is excellent, and the store has something for everyone.

We chose Buck & Doe’s for a Company outing with 25 people, Cynthia was so easy to work with and more than accommodating for our group. The staff along with Cynthia were very thorough and clear with instructions, everyone had a blast! I will definitely be back with friends and family! Cynthia and her staff really went above and beyond.

I honestly have to say this place is hands down the best! I completed my proficiency test for my LTC with Mr.Ron Benton. Very clear instruction and really professional. I was a bit nervous at first but once he explained the qualification and gave clear instructions, I was completely comfortable and confident. I highly recommend this place, they have a bit of everything! A good section to distract the wife while I drool over the selection of goodie’s for myself. My family will definitely be back! They have a good selection of rentals and not to mention the range! It’s very clean and well maintained! Thank you for the great service!

This was my wife’s and myself s first time shooting a gun. The staff did a wonderful job of walking us through the safety features as well as instructing is on the process and procedures of shooting. Overall this was a excellent experience and would highly recommend Buck and Doe’s. We would go back there for sure

I took the Level 2 Women Only Pistol class taught by Gretchen Benne. Gretchen is a fantastic and patient teacher. She makes you feel at ease learning the proper gun safety and drills. It was so much fun. I highly recommend any class that Gretchen teaches. I had also signed up for B&D Pistol League after taking the Level 1 course from Gretchen earlier in Feb. The drills taught in Level 2 increased my performance and accuracy in the next session of the Pistol League.

I attended the first shots class with Chris Elliott and was very impressed by his experience, knowledge and expertise of the subject as presented. I knew I wanted to learn more; therefore, I also signed up for a private session with Don Benton. Don also extremely experienced and his expertise made me feel very comfortable and helped me gain a level of confidence by his training me on a personal level as to every aspect of what to expect with owning and using a weapon. The professionalism of Chris and Don is unequivocal and garners my recommendation to anyone interested in the classes offered by Buck & Doe’s. The Mercantile at this places is also a bonus!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Ron and Don are amazing! I went in to purchase my first firearm and was nervous but they both showed me a selection of Glocks I was interested in buying. I was given a flyer on the membership prices so I could get the most discounts I was asking about before I decided to make a purchase. Ron worked with me for over a hour, rented me a Glock 19, got me range ammo, hearing & eye protection, and a target. He walked me thru how to take apart the firearm, handling it, loading/unloading, and more tips/tricks before I even got into the range. I felt completely comfortable having him assist me. The first time I shot I scored a 246/250 all because of the tips and ticks he recommend. He mentioned I do some research online and a few days later I came back and purchased a new Glock 45. Today, 06/06/2020 I completed the Texas License to Carry course and had Ron as my instructor. He was very informative and explained all the information perfectly. If it was not for Ron and Don I would probably never came back to Buck and Does. These two brothers are who I ask for anytime I have any questions or need assistance. Thank you both for everything!

Buck and Does is a great for everything that you need.They also amazing people working there who will guide you in the right direction and give you what you need. The people who work there are friendly and extremely knowledgeable. But in an area with so many veterans Why do you not offer a discount to Veterans? I alone have cigars most Saturday mornings with 12 other veterans and we’ve talked about the lack of discount at buck and Does. We are more than willing to go further into San Antonio to get good discounts at other gun shops. Highly suggest you consider doing this.

Private 1:1 Shooting with Don…Amazing Experience! I’ve shot a few times before at a range, but was interested in learning some of the basics, etc as I work towards a LTC. I scheduled a 1:1/hour session with Don, and wow did my shooting improve 100x in that short amount of time! Atmosphere: Checkin and waivers were easy, and Antonetta(sp?) at the front was super hospitable. We covered the basics of load/unload and I tested out a few guns. The clear steps on how to properly stand, hold the gun, and squeeze the trigger changed the game. As a female, I’m learning for my safety and we went through scenarios and shooting that were “real-life” encounters. I appreciated the dynamic from a male point of view and made the questions, etc very relaxed. Will definitely be back for my LTC and additional 1:1 classes. Highly recommend as I feel really confident going forward. Thanks y’all!

We (me and my 9 y.o. son) had a great first time experience here. The staff was very kind, informative, and focused on our having a safe experience. Shout-out to Kali who walked us through the steps and encouraged us when we were feeling a bit nervous. Highly recommend this place. For the record, I am anti-gun. Had a good, friendly dialogue on the pro-gun position.

Okay if I could marry this place I would hahaha, Buck and does is my favorite place on earth! The staff is so friendly, very helpful and very caring for you as an individual. I use the archery range a lot and it is the best indoor archery range I’ve ever been too, I’d say it’s the best in San Antonio by far! I also use the gun range and it is very comfortable to shoot in the gun range and ammo is very affordable. The facility itself is very very clean!! Bathrooms and all! They have everything for archery and guns! Any kind of accessory you can think of they got it! Buying a gun is a nice and easy process with them as well. Their education classes are ran very well and professional for LTC or intro to pistol etc… I highly recommend Buck and does as it has become my second home!!

It was my first time (as a European) on a shooting range. Needed help with everything as I didn’t know anything about firearms. The registration was very easy. Enter your own data on the tablet, enter your ID, and that’s it. Then which weapon to choose? Basically any weapon was allowed for me. The first time I shot was with a machine gun and then with a pistol. The employees on site were very patient with me and explained everything to me and then helped me at the shooting range for 5 minutes until I understood it. My wife was able to film and take photographs at any time. If you’re a non-American and want to shoot for the first time, you’re in good hands here. In the end we paid around $120, without a tip 😉

Can’t say enough about this place. Entire staff friendly and inviting. I’ve been shooting since a kid both for enjoyment/proficiency and work wise at one point in time. With that said, I still learn things every time I go I’ve never known from all of the staff as they come with their own backgrounds and specialties. Don’t be scared off if new to this world as very inviting and will never make you feel uncomfortable and bad for coming to learn. Both of my daughters greatly went from never shooting a long bow and arrow to 20 yard proficiency with proper instruction at their indoor archery range. It’s great being members on top of everything else as their showcase events they put on are fantastic with all the top vendors and high dollar giveaways. Membership also allows us access to the shooting/archery ranges whenever we like along with the members lounge. On top of everything I’ve listed and beyond (or this review will go on forever), first and foremost is safety. They make sure rules are followed for everyone’s sake so don’t hesitate on if any concern. Thanks for being the best in the area!

Clean and safe. Had no problems with me bringing my machine guns. Very friendly staff. Neat boutique. Cool concept of a leather craftsman shop in the open. Not the cheapest place but it’s not designed to be. Use double ear pro though. Had guys shooting ar10 next to us and I went out to get foam plugs to go with my muffs.

I have been to many gun shops before and have been treated either with no respect and very rude at times. My daughter recommended we stop by this shop cuz of the friendliness And professionalism. I must say, my wife and I stopped by today and from the moment we walked into the store nothing but greetings and EVERYONE asked if they could help us with anything. We were shocked and amazed!! I have shot here many times and have never been disappointed. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. The also put on a “date night” event recently and it was a great time. Stop by and check this place out to shoot, or to shop. Update: June 2021 I must say that I am continually impressed by this establishment. I have had some ffl transfers done here and they make the process very simple and hassle free. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. The only “complaint” I would have is I wish that there were more HK products, which I understand is difficult to acquire so not really a big deal. I want to take the time to recognize RON, who works at Bucks and Does. I came there with my family and this gentlemen was flat out amazing. He helped us to zero a couple of A-R’s and perform some maintenance on a few handguns. Who does that? I mean I was going to try to figure this out from a YouTube video. Ron’s helpfulness, demeanor, knowledge, and patience is what every person needs when they go to a range or gun store. I haven’t zeroed a weapon in 30 years and I felt like I was back at basic training learning from a drill instructor who was a friend. I was considering going somewhere else to do my training and to get my LTC. Well that’s not happening. I will soon be taking the course online offered by Buc and Does since I’m not available on Saturdays. I will then be booking a session with Ron for the shooting portion of the test. That is what amazing customer service looks like. It will create its own business through satisfied customers. I have always said people don’t care how much you know until they KNOW HOW MUCH YOU CARE! Ron and the rest of the staff are the epitome of what excellence in the workplace is supposed to look like. Give this man a raise and give him some recognition. I encourage anyone that is considering checking out a gun range and all that comes with it to look no further than Buck and Doe’s Mercantile. My family loves this place. It’s the kind of atmosphere where you want to learn everyone’s name because they’re so friendly and inviting. The range is clean, safe and fun. The boutique gives off that small town vibe with great products and prices. The lounge is clean and our little one loves hanging out there while my wife and I take turns shooting or shopping. They not only have everything you need for your shooting sports and archery practice needs, but the knowledge from the staff as well just confirms you’re making the right decision. Best range in San Antonio in my humble opinion.

I bought private archery lessons for my family for Christmas, we had such a great time! Both Attila and Alena were great instructors who made us feel very comfortable and taught all of us how to properly use a recurve bow. A great place to learn and hone firearm marksmanship! My husband and I went there for a private lesson on handgun basics and our instructor was friendly, attentive and always there to correct and refine our techniques. We had a blast and will definitely be coming back again for more range time!
